Fluctuations and Correlations in hadron-hadron and nucleus-nucleus collisions and String Percolation

چکیده
Forward-Backward correlations in pp(pp̄) and Nucleus-Nucleus collisions are discussed in the framework of the string percolation model. The point we want to stress is that such correlations, at low energy, increase with energy and the number of participants, at high energies they are extected to decrease with energy and the number of participating nucleons. At RHIC and LHC these predictions can be tested. 1Introduction Recent results on multiplicity fluctuations in Au−Au collisions, sNN = 62 and 200 GeV, at RHIC by the PHENIX collaboration [1], and not so recent ones by the NA49 collaboration [2] at the SPS, √ sNN = 19.5 GeV, using different nuclei (from p to Pb), show the following: i) The distribution of charged particles, negatively charged particles and positively charged particles, for a fixed number of participating nucleons, Npart, is, in good approximation, a Negative Binomial Distribution (NBD); ii) The NBD k parameter, Departamento de F́ısica, IST, Av. Correlated Event-by-Event Fluctuations of Flow Harmonics
We report the measurements of correlations between event-by-event fluctuations of amplitudes of anisotropic flow harmonics in nucleus-nucleus collisions, obtained for the first time using a new analysis method based on multiparticle cumulants in mixed harmonics. This novel method is robust against systematic biases originating from nonflow effects and by construction any dependence on symmetry ...
متن کاملLong range forward-backward rapiditiy correlations in proton-proton collisions at LHC
We argue that string percolation is in the origin of i) an approximately flat rapidity distribution and of ii) an approximately constant forward-backward correlation parameter b over a substantial fraction of the available rapidity. Predictions are given for pp collisions at LHC, √ s = 14TeV and √ s = 5.5TeV.

We suggest that the fluctuations of strange hadron multiplicity could be sensitive to the equation of state and microscopic structure of strongly interacting matter created at the early stage of high energy nucleus–nucleus collisions. They may serve as an important tool in the study of the deconfinement phase transition. We predict, within the statistical model of the early stage, that the rati...
متن کاملBaryon stopping in high energy collisions and the extrapolation of hadron production models to Cosmic Ray energies
A new striking feature of hadron production in nuclear collisions is the large stopping of the participating nucleons in hadron–nucleus and nucleus–nucleus collisions. This enhanced baryon stopping can be understood introducing new diquark breaking mechanisms in multistring models of hadron production. Here we show, that similar diquark breaking mechanisms occur at high energy even in hadron–ha...
